7 nights in May at our luxury cottage Briar Steading comes with a Land Rover Dawn Safari experience for two, with Hidden Glen Safaris. Local guide Alan Sneddon will pick guests up from the cottage before driving off road through Balquhidder Glen, with binoculars at the ready, to spy on birds and animals in the naturally stunning terrain that was the final stomping grounds and resting place of Rob Roy MacGregor (www.hiddenglensafaris.co.uk).

In addition to the wildlife experiences you will likely spot birds and animals when walking cycling and even sitting in the cottages and gardens.  We have nightly visits from deer, plus mallards, oyster catchers and Canadian geese on the lawn in the loch garden. In different seasons you will see a variety of creatures, butterflies, herons, swallows, bats martins, bumble bees, mallard ducklings, owls, cuckoo’s, red kites, sea eagles, golden eagles, otters and more.

In addition to wildlife and nature there are some magnificent walks,  cycle paths, Munro's lochs and forests to explore in the area. Trout fishing season starts on 15th March so guests can also fish from the loch garden  or use the slipway, jetty, moorings and summer house.  Request use of our hot tub  and visit inside our B listed thatched cottage to see the original cruck framed Scots Pine ceiling, where centuries of MacGregors and  McLaren were tenant crofters of the Earls of Breadalbane.
